Randy Holland MS, ATC, LAT, was a Certified Athletic Trainer with The Toronto Blue Jays Professional Baseball Club for 18 years. He now has over 25 years of experience in sports medicine and rehabilitation to offer the “Injured Athlete” the most comprehensive “Return to Sports” programs in Pinellas County.
Sports Medicine Program Baseball and softball require throwing small objects overhand at great speed and with impeccable, pinpoint accuracy. Unfortunately, this exerts serious stress and strain on human shoulders and elbows in excess of normal and perhaps intended limits. The repetitive trauma that these joints experience often causes injury. Randy Holland has the experience and expertise to prevent or rehabilitate these inujuries in a fast but safe manner.
TWI's fundamental success strategy in development and rehabilitation focuses proactively on INJURY PREVENTION, i.e. anticipate and eliminate sources of problems and potential harm ("the only good injury is the one that does not occur in the first place") through disciplined conditioning: this will allow players to perform at the peak of their natural ability and to work and move smoothly to prevent injury. Therefore, injury prevention is and always will remain the foundation of TWI's Sports Medicine program.
Injury prevention is only successful if this knowledge is transferred to the player prior to competition in his or her sport. Without professional, proactive training before engaging in active play, athletes expose themselves to unlimited and quite unnecessary risks. Nonetheless, throwing athletes will and do incur occasional injuries; at this point they need prompt medical intervention.
Your physician will make a diagnosis and refer you to The Winning Inning (telephone 727-797-9090 for an appointment) for rehabilitation or the initiation of a throwing program. These programs vary from two to three weeks for non-surgical patients to the extended throwing program of two to six months for the surgical patient. The Winning Inning develops an individual, uniquely suited program for each athlete based on injury/surgery, skill level and need, and physical condition as no two patients share those identical primary factors nor respond the same to rehabilitation. The Winning Inning makes every effort to return athletes to the playing field fast and fully fit with an anticipated reduced risk of injury.
